Between Matches
General
- Drive Team match review, just a verbal talk about what can be improved, but sometimes looking at the video may help.
- Drive Coach and/or Strategist talks to alliance partners for their next match.
- It's often nice for one person on the team to communicate (online) what happened in the match, and about any maintenance that needs to be done. This reduces overcrowding in the pits with people asking "what happened?"
Robot
Battery
Plug the battery that was most recently used in, and make sure you know what battery to use in the next match.
Physical Check
Scan major subsystems, things that are prone to breaking, and electrical. Make sure there aren't any issues or broken parts. It may sound unlikely, but oftentimes the Drive Team won't notice that something bent or broke; proactivity is important.
Systems Check
Test all robot subsystems and make sure things run properly. If there are any issues or slight worries, address it, and don't be afraid of speaking up. Make sure driver station isn't throwing any errors.
Drop Test
The "drop test" is an important test that ensures hard impacts won't disable your robot in a match. It is done like this (do once for both the left and right side of the robot):
- Pick up one side of the robot so the bumpers are at about a 30-45 degree angle from the ground.
- Make sure at least one person is watching the robot physically, and at least one is looking at FRC Driver Station.
- Drop the side of the robot on the ground, make sure no errors are visible physically or on Driver Station.
Clean
Every roller and wheel on the robot that interacts with game pieces should be cleaned to ensure they grip game pieces well. I recommend clorox disinfecting wipes, but many would work, just avoid bleach wipes.
